Monday - April 25th 2005 - A Special guest arrived today. Flat Stanley finally got here. He will be here for several days. Jenna was kind enough to send him to us.

Dear Jenna,

Just wanted you to know that Flat Stanley arrived safely today in Niwot Colorado.  He’s looking forward to an exciting vacation in Colorado.  I asked him what he’d like to do and see while he was here but he was so exhausted from the trip in the envelope that all he wanted to do was sit.  I took a picture of him in the recliner.  He was a little cranky and tired.  I also took a picture of him in his bed in the guest room.  I wish you could have seen him. He was so excited about our plans for tomorrow that he could hardly close his eyes.  I don’t want to make you jealous but we’re taking him to the Chipmunk Village in Estes Park tomorrow.  It’s supposed to rain so I’ll have to make certain he has a raincoat.  I told Flat Stanley to remind me to buy some sunflower seeds before we left.  You remember how much those cute little buggers loved the sunflower seeds, don’t you?  Mike is going to take him to visit some ghost towns in his Jeep.  We won’t be able to take the top down since we’re expecting some rain.  I’ll take some more pictures of Flat Stanley tomorrow and send them along with him when he returns home.

 Love,

Uncle Mike and Aunt Joan

He sat down to rest and watch TV as soon as he got out of his envelope. He was tired. That envelope was crowded and stuffy. He asked for a bigger envelope for the return trip.

After discussing all the places we plan to take him, Flat Stanley decided he needed to go to bed and rest.

I suspect over the next several days he will be extremely busy. Joan and Mike discussed several trips for him including visiting Estes Park, the Chipmunk town, and Mike will surely take him to several interesting Ghost Towns.

Tuesday - April 26th An adventure in Estes Park Colorado.

Hi Jenna,

I just wanted you to know what a wonderful time I’m having in Colorado.  Aunt Joan took me to the mountains at Chipmunk Village near Estes Park and you won’t believe what happened.  The chipmunks remembered you from when you were here two years ago.  They said they wish everyone would bring good food like you did.  Remember their fat little cheeks stuffed with the sunflower seeds?  They loved them.

Here is a picture of my adventure.

Uncle Mike is going to take some time off from work tomorrow and take me to a ghost town.  In his Jeep!!!  Aunt Joan said he works way too hard and this will be just the thing so he isn’t so cranky.  I don’t know what she’s talking about—he played video games with me all night and he didn’t holler at me at all.

Here is a picture of me playing video games.

Can’t wait to get home and tell you all about my vacation.  I’m bringing pictures.

Love, Stanley

Tuesday April 26th

Jenna,

Met with some magazine executives today. I may get a shot at my own magazine. This is what they proposed for the first cover issue.

What do you think?

Love, Stanley

WEDNESDAY April 27th

Hi Jenna,

What a day!  I went to a ghost town with Uncle Mike today in his Jeep.  I didn’t want to say anything to him, but I was so scared when he said we were going to a GHOST town.  There was no way I wanted to see ghosts!  It wasn’t really a town with ghosts.  It was an old gold mining town from years ago where the gold miners used to live.  Saw some old gold mines too.  I felt kind of silly thinking we were going to see ghosts.  What a relief!

My last day in Colorado.  Tomorrow I’m going to be coming home.  I’m bringing lots of pictures.  Did you miss me?  Uncle Mike and Aunt Joan said they’re really going to miss having me around to brighten their days.

Love, Stanley

Thursday - April 28th 2005

Hi Jenna,

I just barely have time to write this note before the mailman comes to pick me up.  I don’t want to be late.  I’m so anxious to see you again.  I should be arriving at your house on Friday.  Don’t forget to check the mailbox.  I’ll be anxious to get out of the envelope.  And, of course, I’ll have lots of pictures to show you and things to tell you about my trip to Colorado.  I can’t wait to share my adventure with everyone in your class too.

Love,    Stanley
