Coalmont Colorado Townsite - Ghost town

It should be easy to figure out how this town got its name. According to legend, two coyote hunters were chasing a coyote and it escaped down a hole. When they started to dig it out they discovered a coal deposit. No one could tell me if they ever got the coyote. If they did, they should have taken good care of it, kept it for a pet and feed it real good.

The old schoolhouse is still standing.
