Sherman Colorado Townsite - Ghost town These photos were actually taken on the Cinnamon pass road above the old townsite of Sherman. The first photo with the building in the valley is the general area where Sherman once stood. All gone now except for some foundations and remains of rotted and collapsed log cabins. Sherman never grew to be too big. At most perhaps 100 people. Maybe it was because they had church services every Saturday evening. The town was plotted in 1877 and the post office opened and closed a couple times. Not unusual for a mining camp. Post Office opens with a boom, closes with a bust and then reopens with the next boom. A thunderstorm and a burst dam finally washed the town away.
