Gladstone Colorado Townsite - Ghost town
Gladstone was named after an Englishman who later became the Prime Minister. It was home to the Gold King mine and milling operation. Gladstone had a large, over 400 foot long, concentration mill, a two story boarding house and several merchants occupied the main street. It is said that the post office would open in the summer and be closed in the winter because all the occupants left during the harsh winters. When the railroad came they kept the post office open year round. The main road into Gladstone was over Hurricane pass before the rail came.
